As first time cruisers, my husband and I were very disappointed with Carnival Inspiration. We paid more than usual due to the holiday sailing date. We selected this cruise because we traveled with a 3 and a 2 year old, and so we wanted a family-oriented vacation and liked what we read about the kids program. With the exception of the stateroom which we liked very much and was cleaned twice a day, we found the cruise staff to be non-engaging and uniformed, the daily activities extremely boring (especially for New Years eve!), the food mediocre at best, and the kids camp check-in times/check-out requirements inconsistent. For starters, no one greeted us as we boarded the ship and we had to ask where to go. The ship seemed understaffed for a fully booked ship, and that might explain things. Entertainment was completely thumbs down all the way. We wanted magic on our vacation, we got nothing.

Presentation was good, but the taste mediocre. Didn't like the long lines at the buffet, and there are no restaurants on board should you decide you'd like to try something different. For dinner, the dining room looked nice, but the staff serving us was always rushed, and the food was cold when we received it.

Better than we expected. Our room was cleaned twice a day. My kids enjoyed the towel animals. This was the only impressive part of the cruise.

BORING unless you like Bingo and bean bag tosses. New Year's Eve celebration, which we thought had to make up for the rest of the cruise, was terrible. I would have been happier in my living room watching the New York City ball drop on my TV. Staff was not engaging at all. There was only so much I could take of the pair of break dancers who performed periodically during the cruise. They were good, but once was enough. One singer on board was funny, and he probably was my favorite...not that there was much to choose from.

We took a beach excursion in Grand Cayman. They dropped us off at an average beach area off the side of the road. We didn't enjoy it one bit. In Cozumel, we decided to take a cab to a local beach on our own and we had a great time.

Disappointing. We haven't had a vacation in 5 years, and we are so regretful that we booked this cruise. For the price we paid due to holiday traveling, we could have found something so much better.
