Embarkation: We left out of the port of Tampa. It was a breeze. We were
some of the first ones to get start embarkation because our flight landed in
Tampa at 8am. We got on the boat around noon.
Food: The food was good. They do still serve lobster on formal night.
They also served filet mignon. Being that I don’t eat red meat, I must say that
my favorite dish from the formal dining room was the tilapia. It was very fresh.
There is 24 hour pizza. The pizza was better than what I expected. They don’t
just have cheese and pepperoni pizza. They have many different kinds of pizza. I
didn’t too much care for the dining room on the Lido Deck. There was also a
lunch buffet on the Lido Deck. I didn’t like that they served the same thing for
lunch everyday. It was chicken, fries, and burgers.
Service: The service in all of the dining rooms was excellent. These guys
really deserve good tips. They are really good at what they do. Our stateroom
steward was very nice and answered any questions that we had. They usually clean
the rooms in the morning when you go to breakfast and in the evening when you go
to dinner. Our rooms were always supplied with towels and if they weren’t they
brought them right to us. Room service has a limited menu, but it is still very
tasty. They are pretty fast about getting you your food also.
Stateroom: It is true that the regular staterooms on this boat are
somewhat larger than the staterooms on most other boats. The room was nice and
the beds were comfortable beyond belief. There were also robs provided in the
room. If you plan on taking anything that you will have to plug in, keep in mind
that there is only one outlet per stateroom on the boat.
Entertainment: There was a black comedian on our cruise that was
absolutely hilarious. If my memory serves me correctly, which it usually
doesn’t, his name was Hank. I think that he was the best out of all of the
entertainment. The Love and Marriage game is pretty funny and I also enjoyed the
show “Shout.” There were two nightclubs. One had rock and roll and the other had
hip-hop. There were usually a lot of people in the hip-hop club. I never went to
the other club.
Port of Call: If you are going to Cozumel, you absolutely have to go
snorkeling. It was beautiful. I would suggest that you take some kind of raft
out in the water with you though. Snorkeling can be very tiresome. We had the
lifejackets that you have to blow up when we went, so they didn’t hold you above
the water very well. Also the waters were kind of rough when we went. I stayed
on our guide’s raft a lot.
In conclusion, I had a really great time. I went with one of my friends and we
both enjoyed it. However, I do not believe the stereotype that Carnival attracts
more younger people than Royal Caribbean. The type of crowd was about the same
to me.
