Billy Age: 58 I was on board the Jubilee with 14 other
family members (13 1st time cruisers) from Galveston
on Sept 21st. I was appalled with how Carnival handled
this situation. The entire cruise should have been cancelled and we
should have been allowed to reschedule or refunded. New Orleans was not
an acceptable port for someone who had booked a
Caribbean Cruise. When we ran into the storm, we
should have reversed our direction and gone back to
Galveston in calm water instead of going across the Gulf into the storm. The
Purser's desk was a nightmare. They refused to make any announcements
about what we could do. At first they said that if we
opt out and take advantage of the Trip Guarantee, it
would cost us $200 because of the Jones Act. After
many complained we learned by other passengers that this was going to be
waived by Carnival. I am so glad that we got out when we did. We flew
home early Tuesday AM. We found out later from another
passenger who stayed on board that said things only
got worse. The Septic System backed up and the toilets
overflowed and the smell was horrible. Also the trip down the
Mississippi was rough as well as the Gulf.
