This was the first cruise for my wife and me. We selected the 4 day cruise with stops at Catalina and Ensenada. We sailed the Carnival Paradise out of Long Beach, CA. The luggage was dropped off at the parking garage where porters took them directly to the ship. The garage had plenty of room for parking. Check in began at noon and we were on the ship in 15 minutes. A buffet was served on the Lido deck. There was a wide selection of food. The desert bar was great. All drinks and sodas are billed to your onboard credit card. I have listed our thoughts on the overall cruise.

ROOM
We selected the largest room available. It was called the penthouse suite. It had a kingsize bed, a walk in closet, a living room with 2 sofas and 2 chairs and an outside deck. It was comfortable and roomy compared to the other rooms we saw. The cabin stewart was good. The room was cleaned twice a day. A plus rating

MEALS
We had our meals in the Destiny Dining Room at the first seating. The quality of the food and/or the preparation was poor. The meat was tough and inedible and could not be cut by a knife. This was true for the 4 nights of the cruise. The service was good and the seating nice. A buffet, for all meals, was available on the Lido Deck. The quality of the food there was better. F rating

ENTERTAINMENT
There was entertainment every night in the Normandy theater. It had Las Vegas style reviews and comedians. They were excellent performances. There were also a number of lounges that had live music. Bingo was played on a daily basis. A plus rating

PHOTOGRAPHY
Professional photographers took pictures at different locations on the ship. The pictures were available within hours and at a reasonable charge. B plus rating

HIGH TEA
There was a high tea served on the last day of the trip. It was very well done. There were pasteries and finger sandwiches. A plus rating

PUBLIC RESTROOMS
The public restrooms were not clean and had a bad oder. F rating

SHIP
The ship was very impressive. It had a center atrium that went up 7 decks. There were numerous lounges, stores, coffee bars and a library. A rating

EXCURSIONS
We only went on the Catalina excursion. We waited 30 minutes for the teder to take to shore. We went on the "CITY PASSPORT" tour. A bus took us to the top of Catalina to get harbor views. Because the road was so narrow, we had to stay on the bus. If I had it to do over, I would rent a golf cart and do the tour. B rating.

OVERALL RATING.
The cruise was enjoyable. We would take another cruise but not on Carnival.
