Itinerary: Western Caribbean
This was my eighth cruise. I cruise on Carnival once before on a five
day-Western Carribbean. This time I decided to book a 7 day. The price was
cheap. But in all honesty, I would have to categorize Carnival as a floating
Holiday Inn.
Embarkation was quick and very well organized. However, unlike other ships, we
had had to find our own room. There was very few staff members to direct us.
The dining rooms are nice and the food in the dining rooms was hit or miss.
Great some nights, not-so-great on others. The lunch buffets were as good as
hospital cafeteria food. The midnight buffets (if that's what you want to call
them) were pretty much cold cuts, cheese and rolls. There was only one gala
buffet.
The entertainment was poor. Strobe lights and annoyingly loud music do not make
up for poor choreqography and low energy.
Carnival ships are inapporpriately called Fun Ships. Days at sea were boring,
with very few activities planned. Which was only made worse by the fact that
Grand Cayman closed its port which gave us three days at sea instead of two.
The rooms were pretty spacious and well kept by the room steward who we never
actually met.
The weather was not cooperative for the most part. It rained 5 out of seven
days.
The ports were ok. Cave tubing in Belize was really fun. Not much to do in
Honduras and Cozumel was pretty nice.
Oh, last but not least, is fact that the boat is overrun with obnoxious, badly
behaved children who almost never seem to have a bedtime. I didn't appreciate
having to compete with ten year0olds for the hot tubs. The children lacked
supervision which made this trip unenjoyable.
Overall, I would not cruise on Carnival again.
