Sadly-so sadly-we were supposed to be on the cruise of a lifetime for two middle-aged average Americans who saved for over a year to go. On the SECOND night of this 12 night adventure, the captain, who we never saw nor heard from again, announced that the cruise was OVER due to a broken rudder and we were all to leave the ship. I urge anyone who is considering Celebrity or Roy al Carribean, its parent company, to book on a different cruise line. this is not because the rudder broke. this is because the cruise director and other people who were managing the ship did a TERRIBLE job of customer service. They had ino idea how to cope with this huge problem of getting 1800 passengers off the ship and on to somewhere else. They offered little info, no direction for rebooking, no help in getting a Llght-- you were ON YOUR OWN. People were wandering( literally walking in their pajamas) the ship for three days( it broke on thursday and we were to leave by Sat morning) trying to locate information about how to rebook flights, how to get off the ship. the cruise director kept giving announcements that emphasized how difficult it was for her and her team(""it has been HELL for us"). That is not what you need to hear after paying thousands for a cruise. The cabin steward and our waiter were very kind and nice but they weren't in charge of the ship.the man in charge of the small amount of computers ( waited 2 hrs to use) was also wonderful. You do noT really know how a company works until THERE IS A DISASTER OR A PROBLEM. Do not entrust yourself or your loved ones to this line. Celebrity gave the passengers their money back The compensation was 200 dollars plus 25% credit from what you paid for your next Celebrity cruise. Carnival gave free cruises to their passengers.
