Name of Ship: Century
Sailing Date: May 24th, 2003
Itinerary: Western Caribbean
This was our third cruise. Our first cruise was on the Pacific Princess, a small
ship only holding about 800 passengers and crew. (The original Love Boat). The
Food and Entertainment on this ship was beyond any ones comprehension. The
second Cruise was on Royal Caribbean Splendor of the Seas. This was a much
larger ship with grand facilities and larger staterooms. I have just completed
my third cruise on Celebrity’s Century and I found the service exceptional, the
staterooms are the largest I have been in and the cleaning staff works 24 hours
a day as the ship was spotless.
Here are the positives:
1.The staterooms are large and the bathrooms and showers have plenty of room.
The rooms are spotless and kept spotless during the entire cruise.
2.The entire staff are friendly and at your service.
3.The entertainment was very good. Many of the previous post gave the
entertainment a bad rating but we did not agree. We found the entertainment to
be quite good. After all I live in New York and if I want the best I go to
Broadway. I don’t expect a cruise ship to offer better than Broadway!
Here are the matters of concern:
1.The pork was overcooked and the New York Sirloin was chewy. The fish was
salty. The pancakes and French toast were tasteless.
2.They never offered free drinks onboard.
3.They did not offer a wine package at the dinner table.
Ports of Call:
1.Jamaica: I booked my own tour here through OchoRiosTours.Com. Our guide Horace
Taylor was the best. He met us at the docks and stayed with us for the day. We
even got to see the famous Bushman in Fern Gully. I would recommend this tour to
everyone. I would not attempt Ocho Rios on my own. Dunn's River Falls is the
highlight of the day.
2.Grand Cayman: I rented a jeep at Andy’s and toured the Island. I have been to
the Grand Cayman before so I knew what to do. If it is your first time to the
island then Stingray City is a must!
3.Cozumel: We booked the Passion Island Tour through Celebrity. It was a great
day at a private beach that included a wonderful lunch and open bar. Our tour
guides George and Genre were the best. We went to the shops after the beach for
about 2 hours.
4.Key West: We booked the Conch train ride through Celebrity. It only takes an
hour and gives you a good overview of the city. Make sure you stop at Jimmy
Buffets place for the best cheeseburger in town. There are lots of nice shops in
town and you can begin to understand why visitors get Key Fever!
5.Make sure you watch the sunset after you take sail. It is quite spectacular.
The overall cruise was wonderful. I would book a Celebrity Cruise again in a
minute. It is easy to understand why they are the top rated cruise line. You get
what you pay for! There are plenty of activities and you wont be board!
