Itinerary: Eastern Mediterrean and Turkey
We enjoyed the Mediterranean. We were there in off season, so the crowds were smaller but fewer shops were open. We were booked in a concierge cabin. Embarkation was very smooth. The itinerary was fantastic. We loved Rome. Arrived at the Vacatian at 8am and got to see St. Peters and the Sistine Chapel by noon. Mykonos was pretty, but the people were rude. We loved Turkey and Ephesus. The port shopping guide on the ship, Tara was great. The food was disappointing. The buffet was standard cafeteria. The service in the dining room was great. The food service hours were very limited. There was a hamburger/hot dog grill on the pool deck that was very good. The shower was large. The cruise director, John, was very nice. The activites were okay. Most days were spent in port, touring. The 2 day excursion with lunch in Turkey was wonderfui. Our tour guide in Athens was very much interested in current politics and not about the history. We arranged a private tour in Naples/Pompeii/Sorrento/Positano. The company, sorrentosilverstar, was wonderful. We had lunch in Sorrento at Pizzeria Aurora-wonderul. The itinerary was wonderful. Had good weather. Spent 1 1/2 days in Rome and saw the highlights prior to the cruise. The cabin steward and the wait staff on the cruise was great. We loved Rhodes and Turkey. The people in Mykonos were rude. Santorini was beautiful. Riding a donkey to the bottom of the cliff will never be forgotten. Turkey was fun. Good buys on rugs and leather goods.
