Itinerary: Hawaiian Islands
Me and my husband booked this trip for the day after our wedding for our
honeymoon. All I can say is that Celebrity truly lives up to it's motto of
treating people famously!
This cruise was for a nine day Hawaiian tour. This was a first time for both of
us. So here's my review on everything:
Embarking: I give it a B- grade
This was a little unpleasant- we had to take a bus from the airport down to
Mexico because they cant port out of the US. So after traveling for like 6 hours
we had to ride a bus through Mexico for 2 hours. Then we get to a hotel and have
to check in. Luckily me and my husband had a suite so we got priority service.
Other stateroom guests had a little bit of a wait.
Once we received our ticket and room key to go aboard ship, the process took
less than 15 minutes.
Stateroom: A++
Like I previously said, we had the Celebrity suite which is the 3rd best suite
on the cruise. It was absolutley amazing. It had a full living room with couch
and two chairs, a flat screen T.V, VCR and computer station. Next was a small
dinette area with a table and four chairs and a wet bar with a fully stocked
refigerator and champagne, wine and water. The bedroom was a nice size with a
queen bed, another flat screen TV, a seperate sitting area with a full length
mirror, tons of closet space and draws. The bathroom was a nice size with two
sinks and a jacuzzi tub. The best features about this room was the floor to
ceiling windows. The views were amazing!
Service: A+
We had a Butler for our stateroom and he was the best!!! Everything and anything
we asked for he helped us with. We got served tea and coffee every day at 4:00
with cookies and finger sandwiches. Whatever my husband wanted to Drink, the
butler would go and purchase duty free so we didnt have to buy from the cruise
which was very helpful!
Other employees of the ship always had a smile on their face and made sure they
said good morning or hello! The waitstaff was amazing and the activites staff
was helpful and fun!
Food: B+
The Trellis restaurant had a wonderful varied menu every evening that always
included a fish, beef, poultry and "special" item. My husband who loves trying
differnet things was so happy with each meal, me however who is quite a picky
eater enjoyed a majority of the meals!
The reason that food only received a B+ instead of an A is becasue their buffets
were only ok. This could be becasue I am from New York and when I heard they had
an Italian Buffett I actually expected Italian food, not Chef Boy R De style
lasagna. I was a little dissappointed in that. The BBQ buffett was much better
as well as the Mexican buffett.
Their Breakfast Buffett was also very good- the best waffles I have had for a
long time!!!
Shows and Clubs- I hate to say it, but me and my husband not once found the
entertainment to be appealing enough to go and see it. They acts sounded like
old Broadway style shows, better for the more seasoned guests!
The bars throughout the ship carried the best liquors and spirits and the
bartenders where fun and lively.
US American Restaurant- B
Again, coming from New York we are used to 5 star dining with 6 servers and
specialty items, so to some of the passengers on the cruise this specialty
restuarnat may have seemed like an exquisite treat for an extra $30 per person,
but to me and my husband it was nothing special, however the service and food
presentation was incredible.
Shore excursions- F
Do not book your shore excursions through celebrity!!! Me and my Husband booked
3 shore excursions and two got canceled and the other was running late so they
gave us the option to cancel and/or do something different. I cannot tell you
how upsetting it is to be excited about doing something like snorkling or scuba
diving only to find out 5 munites before your supposed to be leaving that its
canceled. We were refunded our money immediatley and in all actuality, it's not
celebrities fault but if this has happened before to their passengers, maybe
they should consider changing shore excursion comapnies. Anyway, we were able to
do stuff on our own once we got to the islands- you can easily book everything
from the pier for cheaper without sitting on a bus for an hour!
Leaving the boat/Disembarkment: B
Whenever we ported their was always a major line to get off the boat. They could
of tried to do this differently, but I guess with over 1,500 passengers its hard
to do.
Disembarking was not too bad- they assign you a time and meeting place to meet
the night before and then you have to wait for customs to check everything out.
Took about a half an hour. Not too bad!
Overall-
The cruise was wonderful with great staff, good food and a wonderful suite! I
would definetly recommend older couples to use celebrity!
