This ship went out of Vancouver. I am so sorry I did not realize what a great town Vancouver is. I could have stayed there for a week. The cab fee from the airport to the port area is about $40. The Mercury is a grand ship and the service, food, and just about everything else seemed that way to me as well. The only unpleasant part of the trip was when we went to Icy Straits, Hoonan, and had to depart by tender. It took us over an hour to get off the ship and pretty much ruined our chance to explore the area.
Our excursion there was a tram that goes down by the bay. It was pleasant but nothing special. Our next excursion was to Juno. We went whale watching. We just saw small whales and nothing as neat as I expected, but still worth our while.
The most fantastic parts of this trip was seeing the glaciers. BY ship we saw the Hubbard Glacier, and on our whale watching trip we went by bus to the Mendenhall. I highly recommend seeing both. I would also urge you to consider a balcony. Just the view for the whole trip, was well worth the extra money.
One word of caution, the cabins are very tiny. Also, late dinner allows you to stay in port for much more time. Sadly, an announcement was made that this summer would be the last for the Mercury. It is sold to a German company and will not return next summer.

Ask the waiters for their recommendations and you will not go wrong. The onion soup was the best, ever

small small small but clean

Not as exciting as some I have seen before on ships but still fun

See my summary. All the whale excursions are run by the same company.
