Ship: Summit
Sailing Date: January 14th, 2002
Itinerary: Exotic Caribbean

This was our second cruise on this wonderful ship. We took the ten day itinerary in October. I can't recommend this ship enough.

Since we are Captain's Club members, we were able to board quickly and since our cabin was just next door to the one that we had in October, it was like coming home. We had plenty of both drawer and closet space for everything that we brought for an eleven day cruise.

The food on board was probably the best we have ever had on any ship. Many selections to choose from and if nothing on the menu met your fancy, you had a choice of salmon, chicken or steak every night. Also, shrimp cocktail and Cesar salad were available every night also. Desserts were to die for. Our waiter, Adrian, was personable, charming and the best waiter we've ever had. He performed magic tricks several nights while we were enjoying dessert and coffee.

Entertainment on Celebrity leaves much to be desired with one huge exception.... Metro, the a capella singing group. One evening, we had to endure a banjo playing so-called comedian. He should have retired years ago. Even the older people on board found him boring. Metro, on the other hand, is a group of four young men who only grow better each time we see them. They do oldies, barber shop songs, and show tunes and are a total delight.

This itinerary is great and was why we chose to sail on the same ship twice. The only exception is Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. We always look for different things to do in each port. This time in Cozumel, we went to Chankanaab park to "swim with dolphins". We didn't swim. We stood on a platform in the water with one dolphin while it swam past us several times. Many of the shore excursions are way over priced and don't offer much variety.

I know this is very picky, but the only real fault that I can find on this ship is the Trivia prizes. One of our favorite things to do on a cruise, particularly on At Sea days is to play Team Trivia. Celebrity awards the winning team with either key chains or travel alarms. Cheesy. On Princess, on the other hand, we got umbrellas, mugs, insulated travel mugs.

We are so enamored with Celebrity that we have already booked on the newest ship, Constellation for October of this year.
