After hearing all of the rave reviews about cruising, I took the plunge. What a dissappointment. The price I paid for the cruise was very good, but, I guess I got what I paid for. The first problem I encountered was setting up shore excursions. Navigating the Celebrity website proved to be difficult and frustrating. After spending over a hour booking excursions and applying a credit card I thought all was completed. When returning to print out my itinerary it showed I had not actually booked anything and it was too late to rebook online. While on this cruise it became clear early on that the waite staff was poorly trained, and sometimes very aggressive. This became the source of much agrivation. The food was of average quality and much less than I had always heard and read about. When booking shore excursions while on a Clebrity cruise I would recommend that you book direct as the prices which Celebrity charges are unrealisticly high. If you encounter a problem with one, as I did, Clelbrity's problem resolution is very poor at best. My recommendation is to avoid Celebrity at all costs. As mentioned above, average at best. The dining room food was a mixed bag of fair to outstanding. Food from the buffets was presented in a beautiful was but was less than had been anticipated. Problems like no coffee or drinks, at certain times of the day, especially early became an ongoing situation. The staterooms were terrific. The stateroom attendants were polite and quick to serve. The far exceeded what I had anticipated. Onboard were very good. They were both interesting and well as varied. Book excursions with Celebrity if you so choose. They are very expensive, especially for what you get. One would be smarter to go to the end of the pier and negotiate for these excursions, at about half the price. As I mentioned above this was my first cruise. My expectations were realistic and I was dissappointed. The itinerary was okay. Stops at St. Martin, Grenada, and Aruba were great and well worth the time. The stops at Dominica, and Bonaire left a lot to be desired. Dominica was expecially bad, as the people were pushy and rude and the poverty is a small concern for your safty.
