This being our 5th cruise, (4 others on Royal Caribbean) we were a bit disappointed in the Summit. We had heard it had just undergone refurbishing in 2012 so we thought the ship would be beautiful. It still needs much more refurbishing. The rugs on deck 10 outside the pool area leading to the Oceanview Cafe were water stained. At first, we thought the rug was wet - that's what it looked like but realized they were just large stains. The staff were exceptional, however. We were very disappointed that there wasn't more activities planned on the pool deck. The band played 3 times during the 7 night cruise between 5 and 6pm - when a lot of passengers left to get ready for their dinner time. Other than zumba classes at 10am and 4 pm, nothing else went on around the pool. There were a couple of games played during the week but they were a "game-toss" type of game which didn't last more than 15 or 20 minutes. And I did forget that there was a water polo game between the officers and passengers. So, if you sat around the pool each day, not much in the way of music went on. There was one young man, Ahmet, who was a Pool Butler. He was the most pleasant young man who never stopped working, always had a smile and I found him to be a very hard worker.

Again, another disappointment. We were assigned the 8:30pm seating. Since my husband is a diabetic, we requested being switched to 6pm seating but was told it was full. 8:30 is much too late for him to eat and frankly, too late for me as well. We did eat twice in the main dining room, once for lunch and another for dinner. The food seemed to lack seasoning so we weren't too impressed. The rest of the week, we either ate at the grill poolside (which had great burgers and hotdogs with a ton of fixings) or the Oceanview Cafe which was also on the pool deck. The food there was very good and we ate there just about every meal. I have to say the staff were on their toes since one time I mentioned to my husband I had forgotten to pick up the utensils and in a flash, a staff member was in front of us with the utensils. Another time, my husband asked about some Italian dressing and lo and behold, someone brought out a bowl with the dressing. We were very impressed with this. We did not eat in any of the specialty restaurants since we found them to be very expensive. We were happy with eating at the Cafe which had a huge variety of stations with all types of foods.

We had an inside stateroom which was very clean. As expected, an inside stateroom is small but we managed just fine. Our Steward, Bernard, was wonderful and very accommodating. I just wish there had been an electrical outlet in the bathroom for the hairdryer but it wasn't a big deal.

There were many on-board activities on the different decks but we pretty much stayed on the pool deck chatting with new friends we had met.

We found Bermuda to not be a very handicap friendly island. My husband had an electric scooter and we soon found out that the public transportation does not have handicap-accessible buses so we couldn't take any of the bus tours. We had really wanted to see the beaches we had heard so much about but couldn't due to lack of handicap accessible transportation. We did take a ferry to Hamilton which was pleasant but there again, many of the stores had stairs in order to get into them. The next day we wanted to take the ferry to St. Georges but we weren't allowed to board since my husband had an electric scooter. We were told that the dock in St. Georges had d been reconfigured and the ramp leading off the ferry was not wide enough to accommodate the scooter. So, another disappointment.

Although we enjoyed the trip somewhat, we did have many disappointments in not being able to do some of the things we had planned and looked forward to. It did rain on and off during the week but it didn't interfere with any of our plans.
