I must agree with the other 12/19/04 passenger review. I've cruised many times before but never with Celebrity and was eager to experience this premier line but was deeply disappointed. I was aware that the Zenith is an older ship and did not expect the over-the-top amenities of the mega liners, however the disappointment of our experience did not surround the physical attributes of the ship as much as the horrendous personnel issues.
It began when we were brought to our concierge class cabin. In the bathroom I found feces smeared along the toilet seat. After calling our cabin steward repeatedly, the bathroom was finally cleaned (poorly) nearly 4 hours later. We then learned that the fan in our bathroom didn't work since the stench from the previous tenant remained nearly 6 hours after boarding. We then received a call asking if we would like a different cabin. Hoping we would now experience Celebrity's legendary service we agreed to look at the other cabin expecting an upgrade. What we found was that another couple in the first cabin forward wanted two beds not one so they had requested a change. We were not being upgraded, we were actually getting a lower level cabin and not to provide customer service to us. We decided to stay in the cabin we were in but then felt awkward every time we saw the other couple.
The librarian complained bitterly about the other staff, our waiter hated this job and certainly wasn't interested in getting to know our likes or dislikes. The food was definitely better than other lines (Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Carnival and the old Royal Viking) but our wait staff was openly unhappy. Surprisingly, our maitre d was quite warm and we became friendly with the pianist who played our song (It Had to Be You) for us each night.
Entertainment was poor.
Overall, I would not recommend sailing this ship and I'm hoping that the personnel issues are indigenous to this ship and not the line itself.
