Just returned from 7 day cruise. The weather was not good and we battled 30 foot
waves all the way down to Bermuda from Cape Liberty, NJ. It was truly a
horrifying experience. This being my first cruise, I thought the ship would sink
in the waves. Thankfully, it did not sink however, I believe all the passengers
were sick. You could not walk on the ship at all from Saturday until late in the
day Sunday. All the activities were cancelled too. It was really bad. Once we
got to Hamilton the weather was much better. I was told however, that this was
not a good time to be in Bermuda because it is not quite summer there yet and
the flowers and plants were not in bloom. It was really rather drab. The houses
were pretty but there was little to do. The snorkeling hadn't begun yet - it
begins in May. The sea turtle habitat was not ready yet, that also begins in
May. It was just not a good time to go to Bermuda. The ship was really very,
very clean for an old ship. If you dropped something, someone was right there to
pick it up. The food was so-so. Sometimes, very good food - sometimes not so
good. The staff is very hard working and very nice. The ship is smaller than
most and that I'm told is one of the reasons why we all got so sick going down
in the bad weather. We also returned in bad weather but thankfully the waves
were not an issue coming home. We could not see the NYC skyline coming into the
port due to dense fog. It was also the same way going down. My advice: Wait
until the summer to visit Bermuda. There was nothing really wrong with the
Zenith at all - it was very nice.
