As first time cruisers we have nothing to compare it to but the Zenith exceeded
my expectations after reading the reviews posted on this site.
We upgraded to the Concierge Class but I’m not sure what the difference would
have been if we hadn’t. The room was very nice. The bed, although two twins
pushed together, was very comfortable. There were fresh flowers, a fruit basket
and an hours derves tray brought to the room every day.
The service was wonderful, every crew member we passed in the hall said Hello
and was very friendly. The ship was beautiful, all the lounges and dining rooms
were very nice.
The food was great and plentiful. My one complaint would be that they allowed
guests in the formal dining room who were not appropriately dressed based on the
evenings attire. If I knew you could wear shorts and a t-shirt on formal night I
wouldn’t have insisted my husband rent a sports jacket when we forgot his.
Pool side was great, the shows were great, the drinks were wonderful ($700 worth
of wonderful…be careful with that!!). 15% gratuity is added at the bar, keep
that in mind when adding add’l tip, it took us a while to figure that out.
>From what everyone told us, we overpaid for the cruise (our fault for not
waiting for specials), and based on the class we chose we would have had a
balcony on any other ship (the Zenith is older and smaller than most). Also, I
heard complaints about internet access from people trying to get work done.
I liked the smaller ship, we met people at the pool during the day and would see
them again throughout the night which was nice. We were told that on the larger
ships you rarely see the same person twice.
