This was our second visit to Bermuda and our third cruise. We have cruised on Royal Caribbean (Song of America) and Carnival (Destiny) to Bermuda and the Caribbean.

The embarkation process went very smoothly and we were in our spacious stateroom by 1pm. The staterooms were the largest by far from any other line and a lot of storage space. We didn’t have a window but that didn’t bother us too much. Our cabin attendant was rarely seen but everything was always shiny and neat. We would leave our cabin for dinner and come back to find the bed turned down and fresh towels along with a spotless room.

The food on this ship was amazing! Again, Celebrity far outshines the other cruise lines we have been on in this department. Nothing too gourmet that it was unappealing just normal, well presented, delicious food. The soups were the best I have ever had anywhere on land or at sea. Our waiter(s) were professional and personable, always catering to our needs. After the first night, whatever drink you like with dinner was there upon arrival at the table. Dinner would usually take an hour and 40 minutes but it never felt that long because of nice spacing between the 5 courses. The Caravelle Dining room was stunning with all of its gleaming silver and glass. The buffets in the Windsurf Café were delicious as well. Food was always available via room service, which we took advantage of a number of times.

The entertainment was good, typical of cruise ship shows. The dancers definitely gave it their all at every performance. I got tired watching them after an hour and wondered how they keep up that level of stamina for 2 shows a night!

Bermuda is a beautiful destination. Very clean and safe. The fact that the island is quite wealthy without tourist income makes this destination attractive. Unlike the islands in the Caribbean, no one will beg for money or try to sell you a time share. You aren’t “targeted” because you came in on a cruise ship. They are a happy island, proud of their beautiful home and want to share the sights with the tourists. Horseshoe Bay is a must for anyone visiting Bermuda. It is on a bus route, which again is a must for all visitors as the buses are easy and cheaper to get around on. Once you walk down a hill and wind around a little, you come to what can only be described as the most perfect place on earth. Pink powder sand and turquoise clear water. There is a cove off to the right with rocks and tropical fish. Nice facilities for food and rentals as well.

The only real complaint I had about the Zenith is that I was not very impressed by the drinks. It seemed like the bars catered to more hard core drinkers of liquor, their selection of fun “island” drinks was minimal.

Overall, the combination of quiet elegance without the pretentious air commonly found on higher end cruise lines made Celebrity a true find for us. Excellent service, always there but never intrusive along with a beautifully maintained older ship has put M/S Zenith and Celebrity Cruise Lines firmly number one in our choice for future cruises.
