CostaAtlantica Cruise Review

Mathew J. Zagami

Age: 49
Occupation: Public School Administrator
Number of Cruises: 2
Cruise Line: Costa
Ship: Atlantica
Sailing Date: April 8th, 2001
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

While I have not sailed with every cruise line there is, I felt the need to provide an accurate account of my experiences while sailing with Costa, (compared to Celebrity).

THE BOAT: An absolutely beautiful work of floating art. Clean, well maintained, and spacious on all accounts (including cabins).

THE FOOD: Inconsistently good. Some dishes were excellent, while others left much to be desired.

THE SERVICE: Excellent service in the restaurants/bars, shops, and cabin. (I made only 1 mid-night buffet. It was very nice.)

THE ENTERTAINMENT: The entertainment was "fair".  The Costa Atlantica Dancers were excellent. The soloists were far from excellent. (This opinion is coming from a professional musician.) The final show, "Toga Night" was the best of all the shows.

DRESS: Casual for all but two nights. That was a "plus". The last night guests dress in togas for dinner.  A very entertaining evening was had by all.

THE AMENITIES: Amenities were excellent overall. Great gym/spa, nice pools, children's game room, shops, Casino.

PORTS OF CALL: If you like shopping for jewelry and beaches you'll like the ports of call,

(Key West, Cozumel, Ocho Rios, and Freeport).  Prices were not that great, they were actually rather high. Buyer beware!  Beaches were absolutely beautiful.

OVERALL RATING OF CRUISE OUT OF TEN:  8
