I have been a travel agent for about 15 years now and have sailed on atleast 20
cruises and have seen many others on ship inspections . Costa is the only cruise
line I have not been on to either cruise or see one of their ships . I have
always been somewhat nervous about sailing or offering Costa to my clients as I
have always heard mixed reviews . So , I chose Costa for my own personal
vacation this year .
Wow is all I can say about the wonderful ship , fantastic service and staff .
The crew was extremely friendly and helpful at all times . It was nice to have
the bar staff walk by in the pool area and not bother you with yelling out bar
service or begging you to get a drink like on most other cruise lines . The
cabins are all very good size and have tons of storage in comparison to other
ships I have been on . There are 3 pools . One was supposed to be a "quiet" pool
but somehow or another children still used the pool All the cruise lines now
want to be " kid friendly " . That's great but the adults need their space as
well . Also , the cruise line did not enforce no young children in the
whirlpools and many bad parents used the whirlpools for their young children as
the childrens pool . There is a great childrens pool onboard the ship ,right
near the kids activity center .
The food onboard was ok . I have had better .At the breakfast and lunch buffets
you just had to be selective to get something you liked . There was a good
selection so it was fine once you figured out what you did and did not like .
The food at dinner was the same way . There was 1 night I sent back 2 entrees .
However, the 3rd entree was a charm and was wonderful .
Costa is a low priced cruise line but delivers a fantacstic value .
Some people complain about the smokers . Yes , like on all ships , people do
smoke. There were designated areas for smokers and non smokers .
The shows were simple family friendly variety type shows . I felt like I was in
the movie Dirty Dancing in the Catskills at times . The entertainment that was
available was good clean fun .
There were 2 couples at our table , they had been on the cruise for 14 nights
and loved the food and the shows ! They could not have said enough good things
about the staff and the ship .
I would recommend this cruise line as a great value . There is better food on
Celebrity Cruise Lines and better shows on some other lines but the cost is
almost double what you find on Costa
