I recently returned from my 5th cruise, but my 1st one with Costa. The ship is
absolutely beautiful. I've been on the major cruise lines and Costa Atlantica
truly tops them all in the decor department. We had a nice balcony cabin (we
actually purchased an outside cabin but were upgraded since the majority of the
ship is balcony cabins). I give Costa an A+ in the entertainment department as
well. Great nightly shows, great lounges, truly something for all tastes.
Besides the first night, the service was very good throughout. Now on the
negatives, VERY POOR itinerary. We arrived in San Juan at 4:00 pm. There was no
time to go to the beach, the shops all close at 6:00 and there was basically
nothing to do after that. It made me feel like they bring you in there just to
make you go into the casinos! We arrived in Nassau, Bahamas at 1:00 pm and
departed at 5:00 pm. Bahamas has a fairly large downtown area and that barely
gave us enough time to get off the ship run through the shops and make it to
Atlantis for a quick tour. They bring you into La Romano in the evening. You
need transportation to get anywhere. Your only option is to pay for a tour or
pay for a taxi to take you into the city, but nothing on foot. Although Costa
doesn't make a secret of the itinerary, being a travel agent, I've noticed that
one usually compares the ports when choosing a cruise, but not the times. Be
aware! Overall, this was a pleasant experience.
