Wow...where to begin?? I had actually sworn off Costa after my cruise on the Mediterranean which I felt was sub-par. But, Costa sucked me in with a super low price for a week and I was hooked. I booked the cruise with a friend of mine and overall I feel we both did have a good time. From the very beginning it was obvious that the ship would be full of old people. I heard senior citizens complaining about all the old people! I had people referring to me as "another young person" and I'm 41!

The food in the main dining room was better than I experienced before with Costa and the Italian dishes were very popular. The buffet style food served at breakfast was very repetitive and generally not kept hot. Lunch service was better but not great. The food in the main dining room during breakfast and lunch was the same as was served upstairs but just in a more formal setting. The nightlife after the evening show was non-existent, unless you want to watch the crew prowling the disco. The shows were a mixed bag and generally just OK. The crew doubles as the entertainment and perform the lively shows well but not to the level I think most cruisers expect. They did have a couple of acrobats from Eastern Europe that were amazing. Talent night on the final night was also fun.

Our stop in Bermuda felt way too short at one day and stopping in the Bahamas in just OK. I think the cruise should have concentrated more time in Bermuda. Almost forgot to mention that on the first couple of days the Atlantic was so rough that about 80% of the guests were sick in their cabins. The ship was like a morgue those first few nights and most people missed dinner.

Overall not a bad experience and actually an improvement from my last Costa experience. As far as I know it's the most affordable option in cruising and I'd recommend it if it's what your budget allows. I personally will probably switch back to Carnival to get to meet some people my own age in the future. Ciao!
