Where does one start? It was my first cruise, but our friends that accompanied us (6 of us), have been on many cruises, and assured me that we would have a wonderful time. It was a comment they regretted in time.

I was amazed at the decor of this ship. Definitely tacky, in my opinion. It was a very crowded cruise, which I expected, however the aisles are narrow and the ability to go from deck to deck was illogical and confusing. The 5th floor was THE only way to get to the front to back of the ship and one had to transverse the casino and gift shops to do so.

The food...others have said it and I repeat..it was sub-par. Enough said on that subject.

What was particularly upsetting was the lack of supervision and authority on the ship. Clearly stated signs made it clear there were adult pools and areas, and children were not allowed...no one with children seemed to care. Our favorite "adult" pool and spa was overrun with screaming and kicking children from 2 yrs old to 15. Requests to the staff for their assistance met with blank stares and shrugs of the shoulder. It was inevitable that they finally closed the pool when a toddler thought he was on the pot and left quite a mess in the water, requiring a complete shut-down and sanitizing. The whole aft area on that deck was cordoned off and unusable for most of the day. When re-opened , it was the same problem with the children.

Elevators...slow and inadequate

As far as the excursions...the cruise line would arbitrarily delay de-boarding the ship . We were to have boarded the bus at 9am but did not leave until 10:30 am and then we were delayed within minutes of the dock by a train and we set waiting for 40 minutes before it even moved....and then have us back on the bus an hour earlier earlier than advertised.. My time in Russia was severely cut by this and quite frankly it was inexcusable. Those 2+ lost hours could have been spent at the Hermitage, instead of the "rush to catch up pace" we were subjected to.

All in all, my recommendation is save your money and find another carrier to go on a cruise .Everyone was very glad to depart that ship
