Costa Mediterreanea Cruise Review
Bahamas
Annette
Costa offered this short cruise, Fri-Sun, as a
filler after its New Years cruise. My husband, never sailed before and had
always sworn he never would. Given the short duration of the cruise and the
unbelievable deal we got, he agreed to try it.
He was impressed with the ease of boarding the ship (beginners luck, of course)
and upon entry he was amazed by the size and the 'glitz' of its interior.
The cabin was absolutely amazing! Having cruised many times in the past, I have
to say the room was large enough to want to spend time in and the bonus of the
veranda, gave the room an even more open airy feeling. However this was the
coldest weekend of the year in Florida and it was too cold to sit out on the
veranda and soak in the ocean views. The bathroom was even large enough for two
to comfortably stand in at the same time.
We were both impressed with how sparkling clean and immaculate the ship was
kept. You can never tell that over 2000 people a week pass through it.
The food was enjoyable, but because the ship wasn't full and this was just a
quicky trip off the regular east/west Caribbean itinery of the ship, perhaps we
weren't given the full treatment.
The entertainment the first night was very sophomoric so we just stayed in the
casino the second night and skipped the show.
We had one uncomfortable experience in that the room steward was writing a bill
up charging us for all the liquor in the mini bar. We don't drink and my husband
took only one bottle of water out. This means someone was in our room and took
it? Room steward said he is the only one with access to the cabin. He tore up
the bill, but one has to wonder who took the liquor out then.
We spent Saturday in the Bahamas, so we walked around a bit then went back to
the ship to relax on deck. It was pretty cold and breeze out and for some reason
the retractable roof over one of the pools was left open to the elements, which
we couldn't understand.
All in all it was a gorgeous ship, my husband can't wait to cruise again, and
that makes it a success for us!
Compared to the other cruise lines I have travelled on, Costa rates right up
there!
