There were 7 adults travelling on the Costa Pacifica. The ship was new and beautiful. I wish I could say the same about the excursions. This was our 4th cruise so we have other cruise lines with which to compare. Costa's excursion desk is by far the most disorganized and rude I have ever experienced. We signed up for all of our excursions (some at every port) well in advance of the trip. Three of the excursions were cancelled and we were notified by a note under our door the morning of the excursion. The employees working the desk would say it was not their problem. When I asked to speak to a supervisor the employee opened a door and spoke to someone who would not come talk to me. I asked that the supervisor call me and I was never called. The excursions we took left a lot to be desired. For example 2 of our group took a bicycle tour. There were 49 riders and the tour was in 2 languages and very little of the city was seen because of the large group. By the time an attraction was pointed out in one language the tour had passed the attraction when it was described in the second language. If anyone plans to take a Costa cruise--do not take their excursions. Do a city tour on your own -- you will see more of the city and the price is most reasonable.

We paid for a tour and were taken to a market where we were seated for 40 minutes while we were shown rugs for purchase. No one on the tour bought these rugs. We were taken from there to another room where we were shown oils for sale. I do not appreciate paying for an excursion to see the city and spend over an hour being solicited to purchase items I am not interested in buying.

The food was presented well. The wait staff was well trained and attentive in the dining room each night. We ate in the dining room every night and the food tasted fair--not what you would expect for a cruise. Many times we left and went to a buffet where we found the food offered was fair also.

The stateroom was beautiful, clean and roomy. The attendant made every effort to keep it clean and well stocked.

We attended the shows in the main theatre each night and found them entertaining but the talent was not what we encountered on other cruises. They were always 5-10 minutes late starting each night. Bingo was fun--the music in the open area was nice. The spa was pricey and not as high-in quality as other lines.

We selected this cruise for the ports to be visited. We were not dissappointed in the ports. They were all beautiful. Had we known about the weaknesses of the Costa cruise line we could have chosen a different cruise line.
