K. Schnoebelen
Age: 41 to 50
This was our first cruise experience, many friends had told us we would love it
but we had never considered ourselves "cruise people". We were on the Super Bowl Cruise.
Let me start off by saying this was the best seven days of our lives. We are well traveled, Europe
etc. but our time aboard the Costa Victoria was a non-stop great time.
When we left Minneapolis MN. it was 10 below zero and we were dressed in shorts
in anticipation of warmer weather (a good idea by the way). We flew non-stop via Ryan Airlines a
charter service, although we had a 2 hour delay caused by late delivery of our breakfast meal (bagel
and orange, HAHA) that was the last problem we had for the rest of the trip.
Service was as good or better than most of the finer hotels. The only thing that
might have been better was the food, I had expected a little better quality in this area. Don't get
me wrong it was better than adequate but certainly not in the four or five star restaurant category.
The ship itself far exceeded our expectations. Absolutely beautiful!!!!. I am an
early riser and enjoyed the open air bar-cafe area at the top rear of the ship. Had my morning smoke
and coffee without interruption and watched the sun come up every day.
We were on a very lively party ship. If peace and quiet is what your looking for
I would not suggest a Super Bowl cruise. Age group 25-55 no children and lots of drinking and
carrying on. Just the party we were looking for. The pool a favorite area for us and you were always
close to the bar. Chairs were abundant, so we had no problem finding a place to lay down at the
pool. Lots of fun and games in the pool area.
The ports of call were San Juan, Nassau, St. Thomas and costa's private island in
the Dominican Republic (Catalina Island) and it was the best day ever. Everything could purchased
with our ship card (a credit card for all ships activites, drinks etc.) and the only visitors were
from our ship. The island had no docking facilities so the ship had to anchor and we were ferried in
by lifeboat and pontoon boat. Upon arriving a young man came right up to us and asked us if we would
like lounge chairs and the placed them for us at our desired spot on the beach (close to the bar of
course). I had a full body massage for half price in an open air hut on the beach , what a perfect
day. I could go on and on but I think you get the drift, we have already booked our next cruise on the CostaAtlantica for Super Bowl 2001. I would highly recommend Costa for a remarkable, fun, adult cruise experience. Ask a Question About Costa Cruises
