A prior review from 2000 is on this site and I must say that our experience was very much the same. From the moment our aircraft arrived for the ground portion of our 2 week trip; we were carefully cared for. We were met as we stepped off the plane and the staff made the two weeks completely care free. The ground exploration leader was friendly, knowledgeable and honest with advice. There were no hitches or burps in the service. All the meals and transportation were first rate.
The hotels were the same. When we got to the Spirit of Endeavour, the ship was exactly as the prior review. The Captain greeted us at the gangplank and introduced us to many of the crew. Each and every crew member was friendly and anxious to please. The passengers were instantly made to feel comfortable. The service was incredibly attentive. The quarters were comfortable. The talks on wildlife were very informative. The binoculars scattered about the ship were constantly in use.
The food was very good. If some set of menu choices were not appealing to an individual; the kitchen had other alternatives always available. The staff always asked to make sure the passengers had been satisfied with the quality and quantity of the meal. The Chef was available to all the passengers and made daily rounds of the tables. The deck staff was constantly busy with maintenance or other activities about the ship. The ship was immaculate. The lounge is very comfortable and there are excellent viewing areas about the ship. The Captain will readily deviate from course to facilitate wildlife sighting or other adventures that might become possible.
The passengers were mostly retired and well traveled and well educated. There were some in their 20's and 30's though most were 60 or older. The 87 year old couple in our group was as lively as the rest of us. The friendliness of the crew rubs off on the passengers. The whole atmosphere is one of friendly camaraderie. On disembarkation day the transfers to hotels or air travel arrangements were seamless.
It was the feeling expressed by everyone we spoke to, that the trip had exceeded their expectations. We were uniformly pleased with Ship, Crew and Cruise Line. This is one of those rare times when we felt we may have gotten more than our money's worth.
