Our entire family was eagerly awaiting our planned cruise on the Disney Wonder.
My 4 year old daughter loves the Disney Princesses and all of the other
wonderful characters. My 7 year old son likes the onboard activities for kids
and was waiting to see how the Disney programs compared to the others he has
been in. My wife and I were looking forward to a little peace and quiet, some
time to ourselves when the kids were in the programs.
The embarkation process was a little long, but the kids were kept occupied
watching cartoons as dad waited in line. Once we were aboard, we made our way to
our balcony cabin on deck 7. Our cabin was plenty big for the 4 of us and had a
nice balcony to enjoy at night. After a short time, we made our way up to deck 9
and enjoyed our first meal, our only buffet meal of the entire trip.
The Disney people do a great job of providing plenty of activity and
entertainment. As we were preparing to set sail there was a great party on the
pool deck with music and dancing.
Since we were able to move our dining time to the early seating, we had to get
ready for dinner. With the split bathroom in the Disney cabins, it makes the
process much easier.
As for our meals, we loved the atmosphere at Animators Palatte. The food was
also very good. Tritons was our favorite meal and my daughter loved the Little
Mermaid mosaic on the wall. We did not have a great meal at Parrot Cay but
overall, our dining experience was very good. The highlight of the dining
experience were our servers Gede and Carmen. They took great care of us and were
very attentive to our children. Each night, Gede provided magic tricks for the
kids and was very good.
Th highlight of the entire trip was the constant appearances by the Disney
characters. They were everywhere. Mickey greeted us in the lobby, there were
character greetings in the morning before breakfast and before dinner each
night. They were also on the beach and many other places. As glad as I was to
see the smile on my daughter's face each time she took a picture with the
character, I knew it would cost me in the long run. At least Disney gives you
the option of picture packages. If you buy in advance, you can save 15 dollars
per package.
As sad as it was that the trip came to an end, I encountered the smoothest
disembarkation process of any cruise I have been on. While eating breakfast,
they announced the ship had been cleared. Five minutes later, we walked out of
the restaurant and off the ship. In the terminal, a porter knew exactly what
table our luggage would be on and we were in our car within 3 minutes.
