Itinerary: Western Caribbean

We started aboard Enchantment of the Seas not really knowing what to expect. The welcome was one worthy of royalty. We were shown to our cabin it was an Ocean view on the third level. The room was quite spacious as my husband and I are over 6 feet tall and not little people this was an important issue for us. We were able to maneuver around the room without bumping into each other and I felt quite comfortable inviting our friend to our cabin.

We planned our excursions ahead of time and booked them at Royal Caribbean's online excursions. I must say the excursions we took were those for people who aren't into a lot of sporting. We chose the glass bottom boat in Key West, it turned out to be awesome. The boat that we were on was called the Pride of Key West. It made me feel like I was a part of the beautiful waters. It was a new and exhilarating experience for us. The corals and fish were colorful and plentiful. Our dinner was the second seating. This turned out to be a good choice for us because we were able to relax from our excursion and come down from the last meal we had before feasting on the magnificent dinner that was served.

I believe nothing beats the food and service aboard this ship. The formal dining room (My Fair Lady) was so appealing for dinner that we never ate dinner in the other restaurant we did go to the casual restaurant for breakfast and lunch (sometimes snack) I really like the information given on this website about losing weight to accommodate the weight gain that is sure to come there was a 7 pound gain for me. It is horrible but true. I put a new meaning to the word overeat. I know I stopped being hungry after the 2nd day, but I kept showing up to these meals almost as if it was magnetic. My husband who is a big guy didn't survive the chocolate buffet which took place on Thursday of our cruise. He looked at the enormous spread and said "I can't do this anymore". Well, personally, I'm not one to let perfectly good chocolate go to waste. Our head waiter was the best. He made sure we were being given the wonderful treatment he felt we deserved. I recall the day we were served lobster tails. The head waiter cut out my first bit of lobster and buttered it for me. In doing so a small amount splattered to my blouse. He was so apologetic. It was only a dab. I was not the least bit upset. He ran away and returned with a complimentary voucher for me to have my blouse dry cleaned on board the ship. What a place!!!

We went to a beach party in Cozumel Mexico. For those who like to drink this is an inexpensive excursion that includes unlimited drinks and if you like being a beach bum along with it you've found paradise. There was volleyball, kayaking and some other activities if laying on a hammock doesn't strike your fancy. We were able to do this at Costa Maya as well. I only wish I would have been able to space the beach parties out more (not one right after the other) Other than that it was great. Mexico was a good place for souvenirs. Lots of colorful trinkets. Many of the shops offered entertainment while you shop. We were fascinated with the colors surrounding us. We did the majority of shopping at the Grand Cayman British West Indies. We also did the submarine excursion there. That was my favorite excursion. It was an air conditioned submarine that allowed us to be right in there with the sea life without being wet and having to snorkel or scuba dive. If you like those things, they would probably be better than the submarine.

One of the best features of our cruise was the shopping couple. They gave us the wonderful highlights of where to go to buy what. They also promoted purchasing a coupon booklet that guided you to the shops that were recommended by the cruise line. There were free gifts everywhere. This helped out with our souvenirs quite a bit. The ship itself was enormous. It was elegant. There was entertainment anytime I wanted it. The live shows were great. Mickey Dolenz from the Monkees was our guest entertainer. He was great. We also an entertainer from Baltimore Tony (can't remember his last name) He did Mr. Bojangles and some other Sammy Davis Jr. songs. He was an all around great entertainer and I apologize to him for forgetting his name. There are so many things that I want to say but I believe I will be writing forever. I think of something new every time I want to end. My husband and I won #1 in the twist contest.

My experience was the most memorable vacation of my life. I traveled to Germany, Korea, Resorts all over the U.S. and this was by far my favorite vacation.
