If your style is old people, very old, then this is your line. If you are a sports fan this is NOT your ship. It was the beginning of March Madness, the only sports they show, even in the "Sports Bar" is ESPN in Spanish. There is not not much to do on this ship unless you like trivia or bingo...The ship does have beautiful decor, and a great piano bar.

What did you think about the food?

That we got some. The service was HORRIBLE. The service on Carnival blows the Oosterdam's out of the water! The waiters could care less about anything. We received our main courses twice as the bell to clear out went off...The bartenders were decent. The Lido deck food was typical buffet, load up on fresh fruit is my advise.

How was your stateroom?

Much smaller than the pictures, we had a VD suite with a balcony, the only nice thing about the room. The closets are not as big as we were led to believe. Only about 4 TV channels that worked. No ABC, NBC or CBS feeds. Complementary fruit, LOL, left overs from the Lido deck.

How were the activities?

What activities? The pool area was not bad, always open chairs, no band or music though? The only thing that saved this cruise was Nathan Temby in the piano bar, thank you Nathan !

Do not get off the boat in Mazatlan unless you enjoy a sewer dump...Puerto Vallarta is fabulous. The whale watching in Cabo was nice, saw many whales and seals, the wife got tanked on the free Margaritas, I enjoyed the chips and salsa...

The ship's decor is very sophisticated. That's the best thing I can say about this ship. The atrium area was about as small as our cabin. The food was horrible unless you pay the extra at the Pinnacle Grill. The "shows" were worse than a local middle school production. The Casino was a joke. The dealers are clueless, always looking to the Pit Boss for everything. Half the machines were not working.

I am really not hard to please. This would be a great cruise if you enjoy doing absolutely nothing and having no real services. Holland American really does cater to older people, and I mean old. I'm 45 the wife is 48 and we felt like we were amongst the youngest on board. We did meet some very cool people at the piano bar, again thank you Nathan for some great tunes !

We will never book a Holland American cruise again. Carnival has been our favorite by far. I know, I know it's a Carnival...The service was so much better, much more to do day and night. Maybe It's because I've never grown up?

To sum it up...If you like old people and a clean sophisticated ship this ones for you !
