Ryndam Cruise Review

Stephen

Age: 36 to 45
Number of Cruises: 3 to 5 Cruises
Ship: Ryndam
Sailing Date: July 25th, 1999
Itinerary: Alaska

This was an outstanding cruise.  There was scenery every day, usually on both sides of the ship.

The cruise into Glacier Bay is a must for any Alaska trip.  Sitka is very scenic, but primarily a shopping stop.  Your best bet for wildlife is to take the wildlife cruise excursion in Juneau.  We say five whales on a glorious summer day swimming alongside our boat and breeching just for the fun of it.  The airplane excursion over Misty Fjiords National Monument was also dramatic.

The ship was very nice.  We looked forward to our meals, where we had uniformly good food and an excellent wine list (for a cruise ship).  The dining room is very elegant, particularly while watching the sunset over the mountains during your meal as you cruise down the inside passage.  Unlike some cruise ships, the Ryndam offers excellent vantage points for viewing scenery from both sides, as well as front and back.  We particularly enjoyed standing right up at the bow of the ship as we sailed into or out of ports.
