Age: 61
Occupation: Semi retired
Number of Cruises: 9
Cruise Line: Holland America
Ship: Ryndam
Sailing Date: January 29th, 2005
Itinerary: Ft. Lauderdale through Panama Canal to San Diego
Pros:
Generally good evening shows; well appointed bars and dining room, although the
dining room show some signs of wear; particularly good entertainment (Dan
Bolton) in piano bar; first class library and computer room; well equipped gym
and exercise facility; good quality food, although not up to the standard of
Celebrity.
Cons:
Toilets often not flushing and a frequent smell of backed-up sewage/drainage
permeating corridors and some public area. This is an ongoing problem that HA
seems unable to fix. Quite frankly I am amazed they can call this ship luxury
for as long as this long term problem continues. Numerous reviews raise the same
concerns.
Staff attention to upkeep seem lax. windows are often opaque through salt
build-up. They should be washed every time in Port. This type of problem is
fairly widely apparent. Holland America is slipping and should do something
about it.
