The Regal Empress is a lovely old ship, well maintained and clean. As a first time cruise experience it was overall very good. I went with my wife and two children who are 7 and 5. They enjoyed the two Jacuzzis and I enjoyed the giant bathtub that is the swimming pool. The children room though was very small about the size of the average lounge and the kids went once before the life boat drill. The other opening times were for older kids who can do late night discos. The meals were excellent particularly the evening meals a good selection for both adults and children. We did the two for one glass bottom boat and cable beach experience at at coat of $89.00 per adult and $69.00 per child, it was seriously overpriced but my wife didn't want the hassle of a DIY taxis and haggle on the numerous boats ready to take folks out into the bay. We did get a quality buffet lunch at Cable beach but the I estimate the boat trip which only gave us 15 minutes to actually look at the fish despite it being 1 and a half hours long cost about $15, the beach entrance I think you could have got in for free if you had bought the buffet which was about $18 and the taxis/bus there and back $10. So basically if you let them organise it you pay double that said everything was as advertised and we had an excellent time on the golden sands (oh there is still plenty of public beaches in the Bahamas, the sales man tells a few little white lies!)
The Ship staff were superb and very helpful at meals
and moving baggage so much so that my little boy insisted that we give our cabin
steward a extra tip for his care.
Overall excellent. Thank you LORD
