First cruise certainly not the last.

Started with flight from Birmingham to Palma no delays so far so good.

Arrived in Palma about 11.00am local time to a sunny but humid day.Reps from First Choice were there to welcome us and gave us a welcome envelope containing bag tags for the luggage, cabin number. We boarded the bus and were transported to the port about 20 minutes drive.

On arrival we had a digital photograph taken and were issued with keys to the cabin and a credit type swipe card which we used for all purchases on board the ship. This also had to be shown every time you left the ship at different ports of call and again on reboarding.

We had booked an inside cabin but were shown to an outside cabin with window. Apparently we had been upgraded at no extra cost.

Ship was not due to sail until 9.00 pm so we spent some time back in Palma and then exploring what the ship had to offer.

We were very impressed with all that we saw. Cabin was small but adequate with two single beds which we pushed together. Shower and toilet facilities excellent. Clive our cabin steward came in twice a day and kept the place spotlessly clean. 100% service.

We had a meal in the Ocean Restaurant on the first night and were seated on a table with two other couples. Good food and good company what a start to the holiday.

When the ship set sail I found it hard to believe there was no noticeable rock & roll that I have always associated with smaller boats. It was like walking on land.

After sailing a full day the ship docked at Tunis. We decided to stay on board and made full use of the ships facilities including a dance class by Ernesto in the art of Salsa dancing. 123 how is my English?

The next port of call was Civitavechia the “ Gateway to Rome”. We had decided to do our own thing rather then go on the organized trip (first mistake). We caught the train into Rome Termini bought a map to find the places of interest and decided to go to the Trevi Fountain. After a short two stop trip on the Metro (Underground Railway) we got off to find that I had been the victim of pickpockets, and my wallet containing my credit card, debit card, driving license had been stolen. Be aware.

On arrival back at the ship the crew were very understanding and sympathetic. I was issued with another swipe card with no fuss. The rest of the week went with no hitches. Entertainment on board was excellent and service second to none. I cannot compare this ship with other cruise ships as it was our first one, but I think it would be very hard to beat. Looking forward to next year we will be back.
