Itinerary: Western Mediterranean
This was my first introduction to cruising and like everyone else I had seen the TV footage of the launch of the island escape, not great!
we stayed in a deluxe cabin on golden deck, very spacious with my wife and 12yr old daughter in tow. the crew cabin staff and entertainers were excellent, all very approachable with any request no problem. food was superb facilities excellent, drinks all inclusive and I could not get enough of it all.
I would give a special mention to captain john McNeil who was always accessible, we were lucky enough to have captain Horne on our cruise as well who introduced the new captain who is taking over the helm for 2007. the highlight of the cruise for me was when at a passengers request captain McNeil past by the active volcano stromboli, stopped the ship, turned out the ships lights and gave a running commentary as the volcano gave off small eruptions of lava into a dark Mediterranean sky. it may not be the most up to date ship with limited facilities compared to the big cruise liners but escape was unique in the friendship and happiness the ship breathed into its passengers .
I would recommend this cruise to all. I have to say the itinerary and trips were well organized, they didn't just try they delivered throughout 100%. I rate this cruise it crew captain and delivery of services 5* I have booked again 18 July 2006 med discovery week cala millor all inclusive, I count the days in the comfort and knowledge that I am going home to the new family I have taken to my heart.
