Itinerary: Mediterranean

The Fantasia is a beautiful ship, with a wonderful, professional staff who were very friendly and helpful. From the minute we boarded (which, incidentally, it only took about a minute to board. No lines, problems at embarking) we treated very well. Our dinners were good, but the wait staff was great. We were at a different port every day, and did our own sightseeing, with the exception of Mount Vesuvius and Pompei during the Naples stop. Our tour guide was very knowledgable, great tour. The only issue we had onboard was connecting to the internet on our laptop, but the reception staff was helpful, especially a very sweet young lady by the name of Maria, who is from Naples.

The food was good, especially in the main dining rooms. We would advise eating breakfast in the dining rooms as opposed to the cafeteria, as it was good and the service was nice. The cafeteria was fine, and they did a good job of having enough seating, spread out enough to not feel too crowded.

Our stateroom was very small for four people (they moved us from a room with 4 single beds to one with a king and a pullout without our consent, which was a definate downside. However, we called the agency, Ecruises.com, we booked through a few days before our cruise, as soon as we noticed this, and they assured us the room would have 4 beds but refused to double check).

We were at a port everyday, so did not participate much in other activities, except the night-time shows. They were all very good.

Pompei was well worth the time and money.
