The Monterey is now retired from service.

Originally built in 1952 as a C4 freighter for the U.S. Maritime Commission, this ship was rebuilt as a cruise ship for the now defunct Matson Navigation Co. in 1956. Acquired by Star Lauro / MSC in 1990 following the collapse of former operator Aloha Pacific Cruises, the Monterey offered a traditional European cruise experience.
