Prior to our cruise I read the reviews, just like you are doing now. After our 10 day cruise on MSC Poesia, I can't understand some of the negative comments I've seen about this ship and cruise line. First, this is an Italian cruise line and, yes, the English is iffy sometimes. English is not their native language and their is a highly diverse group of people working on the ship (Italy, Indonesia, UK, Central America. When I read the reviews from other cruisers about this issue of language, the term "ugly American" comes to mind. We experienced excellent service, very nice and helpful crewmembers and had a great time. OK, we haven't done 233 cruises like some of the reviewers (The ones that seem to focus mostly on the quality of the buffet!), but we've done 4 and this one was wonderful....and at a fantastic price. The high number of outside cabins makes the price of getting a balcony room affordable. The rooms were the biggest and nicest of any previous cruises we've taken. If you are looking at an online deal that seems to good to be true on the MSC Poesia, like we did, believe it! Great value, gorgeous ship, attentive crew, excellent food and, of course, expensive drinks. We did a 10 day Carribean cruise with a balcony room, flying from California, for less than $2500; airfare, cruise, excursions, drinks, etc. No regrets.

Very good. We enjoyed every dinner, the service was top notch and the menu was diverse. We had breakfast at the buffet and some lunches, also very good, very diverse selection.

Much larger than we anticpated and the balcony allowed us seclusion and privacy.

We didn't paticipate in many onboard activities. We did go to a couple shows and they were very entertaining and only lasted about 45 minutes...just right for us. Nice diversity of talent acts in the lounges, we found a musical act that we went to several nights to dance and enjoy these very talented people. We enjoy wine and the MSC Poesia had a wonderful wine bar. Even better was the sommelier, Luigi, from Sorrento, Italy. We only are familiar with California wines and Luigi took us under his wing and provided amazingly detailed information and history about the Italian wines on the menu. Luigi has run a sommelier school in Sorrento, as well as a restaurant, for many years and has a gift for explaining complexities of wine making. Thanks Luigi!

We did the Champagne Catamaran on USVI to St. Johns island. Kind of a cattle call but the crew made it fun.

It's hard to beat the value MSC provides. We had a great time and highly recommend the MSC Poesia to anyone who is, by nature, fun loving and not nit picky, like some of the reviewers you will see on this blog.
