Overall, our experience was good and the service was very good throughout the ship. Although there are many dining options only 3 are included in the cruise fare. There is one buffet which we found very noisy and equipped with cafeteria style larger tables. The two dining rooms had the same menus. The food was tasty and there were plenty of choices including steak, chicken, salmon and pasta at every dinner. Room service and the 24 hour Laguna Cafe had very limited menus and the food was disappointing on the four occasions we tried them. Entertainment was enjoyable, except the same performances are repeated on the second of the back to back cruise itinerary. Quiet public spaces to read are few as the public spaces are scheduled for bingo, trivia, tastings and other uses. The library and games room are too small for the number of passengers particularly during at sea days. We loved the ports of call and did our own thing at all of them except Cairo. The free style of cruising is very flexible and worked for us. We found there was too much on board promotion of revenue generating activities such as the casino, bingo, the spa, the shops and booze.

We found the buffet too noisy and crowded and poorly designed for the size of the ship. The food was fine but not as good as other cruise operators. Soup selection and fresh baking was unusually limited. The two dining rooms offered much the same food but cooked to order and presented beautifully. Dining room service was very good.

Our stateroom was well equipped with plenty of storage space. It was a little small but very adequate. The bathroom facilities were ideal. The room steward was discreet and thorough.

We would have liked more sessions explaining the social, economic and historic elements of the ports we were visiting. There could have been much more done other than bingo, trivia games, art auctions, and shopping.

The daily news circular did an adequate job of site highlights and hazards. Hazards, i.e. "pickpocket" risks and other theft was also addressed on the public address system by the cruise director.

Enjoyed all the ports of call. We would have liked more time to explore but port stops are only 8-10 hours except for Egypt where we had two days. We were at sea 21 days and it would have been convenient if the ship had a self serve laundry facility. NCL offers laundry services at inflated prices. Overall using the ship as our hotel was a good experience.
