This was our first cruise with Norwegian cruise line and it was our least favorite. We were a party of six and we all talked about how this was our least favorite. We felt like we were being nickel and dimed on everything and we often commented that the staff didn't seem as happy as other cruises we've been on. There were a lot of restaurants that had a $15 or $30 cover charge, we never were able to see a live show because they were booked well in advance. There is an automatic charge of $12/per person/per day, then if you purchase something extra there is an auto gratuity of 15%, and then they ask for additional gratuity.

The buffet court was always overcrowded and we had a hard time finding seats. There were often long lines for the 'included in price' restaurants. The other restaurants, with a cover charge, were empty much of the time but we didn't want to pay the cover charge.

Seems like the emphasis is on the art shows and we didn't feel the other activities were centered around trying to sell us something. More for the cruise line's benefit than ours.

For the most part, the whole cruise experience was just OK and we couldn't decide if it was because we were on a 'freestyle cruise' or if it was the cruise line itself, but we've all decided we won't cruise with Norwegian again. We didn't feel like we got our money's worth.

The whole trip was nothing to write home about. Their ship store was a joke. I know all cruise lines have a big mark up on things but the store on the Norwegian Jade was full of over-priced junk. When we disembarked the ship in Rome, we were told by three NCL personnel that we needed to get on the last bus. When we got to the bus, two more personnel told us to get on the last bus also. This bus took us outside the port, dropped the six of us and six more people off at a bus stop and left us to figure out where to go from there. There was no one from the cruise line to help us out. We had to contact the cruise ship and have someone bring us back to the ship. It was very stressful for everyone. NCL personnel said we must not have been paying attention. I do not recommend them.
