Norway
Norway has been retired and is no longer in service
Originally built in 1962 as the S/S France, this ship was the pride of the Grande Nation until it was laid up in 1974. Purchased by Norwegian Cruise Line in 1979, the grand liner was turned into cruising's very first superliner by Germany's Lloyd Werft shipyard. The same shipyard further enlarged the ship in 1990 and last refurbished her in late 2001. In a horrible boiler explosion in 2003, the Norway is currently laid up awaiting repair. It is uncertain if she will again enter service or be scraped. Time will tell.
