First thing - I spent approximately 6
months in research and planning on our cruise. My wife left all the details to
me.
We were looking for a cruise that fit us. We were not looking for all the fast
pace bells and whistles. Plus we were not taking out teenager with us. (Sounds
bad, but this was our cruise to get away for a while).
I read numerous cruise reviews regarding the all the lines and narrowed our
cruise to the Norway and another ship from another line.
I was fascinated by the Norway's history and her lines.
When we arrived in Miami, we waited about 30 minutes in line to check in and
then another 15 minutes to board. We were escorted to our cabin without any
problems.
I booked a suite on the sun deck because we wanted a balcony and full bath. The
suite was wonderful. The bed was comfortable and big. Our Steward, Imade was a
great guy, who assisted us in feeling right at home for the next 7 days.
The Norway is a grand lady, with classic lines and a wonderful history. We spent
the first day on the ship exploring. The food is plentiful and not to spicy.
The entertainment, was good to above average. The magician and a comedian, Peter
Sasso were great. The shows were good and entertaining. My wife is teacher and
had been involved in theater for about 20 years and she enjoyed the shows as
much as I did.
The staff were great - from the ship's officers to the waiters and cruise
director's staff. Adrian, the cruise director was a outstanding.
St. Marteen was nice, but it was Christmas Day, so most of the shops were
closed. The island was beautiful and the weather for
the entire cruise was excellent.
St. John / St. Thomas was great also (More shopping on St Thomas, but St John is
ideal to get away from the fast pace settings)
Back to the Norway, Yes the elevators a slow, but we used the stairs the entire
week, which was a good way to burn off the food.
If your looking for a cruise with all the latest attractions then maybe the
Norway is not for you, but if you are looking for a peaceful enjoyable cruise
that takes you back to a time of smooth cruising, then the Norway is a wonderful
experience. She is graceful and smooth.
