Over the years, my husband has been a little hesitant on cruising, saying that the "first big boat ride" didn't turn out too well for our ancestors (LOL!) so this was our Family's first. Wow! and Wow! It was awesome! This ship cruises out of NY we live in NJ (no flying), and its a new ship, these are the main reasons we booked it. Since it departs out of NY please, please, please bring jackets & fall clothing or at least a hoody, especially if you're departing in the Fall. Once you leave the cruise terminal, you're literally in traffic on 12th Avenue. We were freezing!

The Haven had its own restaurant, pool, lounge, bar, and sunning area only accessible by Haven 'dwellers" for lack of a better term. Upon arrival, while awaiting room assignment, we were served sliders & fries (yum, yum). The food, service & drinks in the Haven restaurant were excellent. The boneless Beef Ribs unbelievable especially since as non-pork eaters we were surprised that the ship would have such a treat. The only issue is that the menu got old. After a few days, we needed some diversity so we wandered to the other restaurants which were equally good. The café had pound cake out of this world, grilled fish and something for everyone! One daughter caused a ship wide ice cream shortage while the other is responsible for the pasta shortage. One night I didn't feel well so I stayed in my cabin and ordered a corn beef sandwich w/fries and an arugula salad and I was highly satisfied. We ate in the Italian specialty restaurant one night and it was way too much food, but whose complaining?

We were very blessed to have been upgraded to a 2 bed, 2 bath concierge level family suite called "The Haven" which was perfect. We live in a good deal of space at home and usually share a hotel room or suite with our daughters aged 16 and 10, but for 7 days, a family of 4 can go to blows in a tiny cabin. Our room was modern, spacious and the master bathroom had a jetted tub, with floor to ceiling windows, jetted tub, double sink and heated floors. Bdrm#1 had a king sized bed, Bdrm#2 had bunk beds and its own bath. The living/dining area was pretty large with coffee maker, fridge etc. Our states room had 3 televisions -- not that anyone watched them. Overall, the suite although clean was a tad dusty which gave me the impression that it had not been used prior to our stay -- overall I am not complaining. At the time of our sailing, the ship was fairly new having made its maiden voyage I think April of 2014.

They were ok, the wall climbing was close as well as something else my girls wanted to do, No biggy there was plenty to do. The Fire and Ice show was great! They work really hard. The casino was very smoky, so we did not use the bowling alley since it was very near by.

We did not leave the ship for sunning at Great Stirrup Bay. The water was too choppy for the tenders to take us over. I was disappointed, but what can you say, safety first. We did not the Kennedy Space Center, shop in Orlando, or go to Disney while there. We just didn't feel like all the rushing back and forth and it was very expensive. We did get off the ship for Nassau and snorkeled. Those waters were choppy too. But the girls loved it. We decided to revisit Nassau this year to really check out the Island and Atlantis on our own. We didn't think it was worth limited time and money to visit it for a few hours. Atlantis here we come!

It was awesome! We were contacted 1 week before our departure date concerning an upgrade to The Haven. It was worth every cent! We were very blessed to have been upgraded to a 2 bed, 2 bath concierge level family suite.

What can I say -- Wow! and Wow! -- It was awesome! With my husband prior hesitancy on cruising, I must say our first cruise isn't our last. BTW: we met the captain -- who looks like a regular old accountant (lol) at a special cocktail party for guests staying in the Haven. All was pleased.
