Overall our transatlantic cruise on the Norwegian Epic was awesome, but of course there were pros and cons.

Pros:

The food was amazing, the buffets had tons of variety and everything was very tasty. I don`t suggest oSheeanes for lunch or dinner, food was bland (ex. Burgers without sauce). We never ate at any of the restaurants that cost money, so I cannot speak for them but we heard good things. The free sit down restaurants were wonderful as well (steak, lamb, prime rib, gnocchi).

The entertainment was also above average. Some of the shows (like Legends in concert) had good and bad acts, but overall they were a great way to spend an evening. The crew had games going all the time, jeopardy, the newlywed game and the perfect couple were all interesting and entertaining. They also have activities such as trivia and dance lessons to fill your day with.

Cons:

The booze was very expensive. Yes I guess you can get a beer for $5, but it’s a Fosters… if you want anything good, like a pina colada, it is $7.95, and $8.50 after auto gratuity. Water is also outrageously expensive.

The staff is pretty wonderful for the most part, our housemaid was awesome and the chefs at the buffet were great. But often it seems like the waitresses and hostess` don’t have the time of day for you. Almost like a Mexican resort type of service.

Advice:

Do the NCL University tastings, 4 large martini`s for $15. Keep in mind auto gratuity is always added (additional 15%).

We snuck on booze. We put vodka into a sprite bottle and tucked it into the bottom of our check luggage, surrounded by clothes. If they find it, they confiscate it and give it back the end of the cruise, so really what's the loss if you get caught anyway. We also brought booze back on when we made a stop on the cruise. It seemed like people in front of us were getting stuff confiscated if they were blatantly carrying it, but I shoved it to the bottom of my backpack and it wasn't an issue.

Would I recommend Norwegian No probably not. But if the price is right, its and good ship and cruise line but its not like I would go out of my way to book with them. If the price is right, I would go on Norwegian again in a heartbeat.
