The Norwegian Crown was formerly the Crown Odyssey operated by NCL's sister company, Orient Lines. She was originally launched in 1988 for Royal Cruise Line, this handsome vessel was taken over by Norwegian Cruise Line in 1996. After four years under the NCL flag, she was transferred to sister company Orient Lines in 2000. Constructed as a long-distance cruiser, she is an ideal ship for that company. In 2003, she was transferred back to NCL as the Norwegian Crown.

Excerpt From NCL's Web Site Gleaming like a polished jewel, Norwegian Crown has taken her place among the royalty of the seas since she was built in 1988. Her 527 staterooms are large, most with picture windows and marble bathrooms. The penthouse suites all have bathrooms. She slows with health features too; a modern indoor fitness club, swimming pool, Jacuzzis and saunas. And she sparkles with fun. Aboard this jewel of the seas, service is equally as polished. Norwegian Crown boasts Scandinavian officers and a Philipino service staff with an excellent memory for passenger's names and preferences. Whether it is the camaraderie on board or the bartender that remembered your favorite drink, aboard Norwegian Crown everyone is dedicated to making your vacation one of life's crowning experiences.
