Itinerary: Bahamas
Well...I'm back and what a wonderful cruise we had! The ship met all of our
expectations. We were three friends ages 55,52, and 46. When we arrived at the
NY pier we were told through NCL's web page that we were headed for Canada
instead of the Bahama's because of hurrican Isabel. We were not very happy about
the change, but at least was able to pack for colder weather the day before.
Upon arrival at the pier, the Capt, made the announcement that we WERE going to
go the the bahamas. A lot of happy cruisers cheered, including us. Embarkation
was flawless. We were sitting having lunch by 1:00 in the Venetian, (one of many
fine dining restaurants) I will not bore you with the typical comments. We did
have the best time. I will, however, tell you what I think should be brought
with you, fixed, or changed.
We were sharing a balcony room, 9536, aft. The room is smaller than the average
balcony I am used to, but we made due. Only one plug available. The bathroom
does have a plug in ONLY for shavers, so my suggestion, bring a a/c adaptor for
220 volts. Will help. They do supply a hairblower, not big on wattage though. Do
bring your own if need be. Since you are charged on your sign and sail card the
gratuaties for the week (70 dollars) you will notice that the service is not as
personal as when you tip at the end. The service was good, but not at all
personal. The restaurants are fabulous. No need to pay extra at the specialty
restaurants (Cagneys, Le Bistro, etc) Food is just as good in the Venetian,
Salsa's and especially in Impressions (my favorite...ask for Dhuri to wait on
you, wonderful and adorable)
If your so inclined to enjoy a good Martini, do go to the taste test in the Star
bar. For 10 bucks you get to sample over 6 drinks and meet a lot of fun people
in the process. You may want to take a nap after this event! LOL Get to pool
deck early. Seats are taken quick. As far as the itinerary, Port Canaveral,
Miami, Stirrup Cay and Nassau...here's my take. Dump Miami all together and give
us more time in Nassau. We only had from 7-2 and I would have loved to stay
there the entire day. MUCH TO SHORT TO EXPLORE. The casino on the ship is great.
Two of us won over 500 dollars each, which is always a plus. The cruise director
was fair. Not too funny. The shows were typical Las Vegas Review. Try the
jacuzzi's in the spa...fabulous. If you have any questions at all, I would be
pleased to help you...just send them to my e-mail. Happy cruising!
