If you like friendly responsive staff, well organized tender travel, working toilets then this cruise ship is not for you. If you are bring children and not concerned about a cruise director who likes to use "potty" words, then this is a cruise for you. Rooms were good and food in premium restraunts was very good. Food at non-premium restraunts was average and service was average. We enjoyed the itinery but the constantly broken toilets and poor room service people made the trip less than the expected cruise care I have come to appreciate.
The food at the Premium restaraunts was very good. The food at the non-premium restaraunts was average. The service at premium restaraunts was good the service in non premium restaraunts was average.
Stateroom layout is nice. Our room was 4510 which was horrible while at sea. Large waves sounded like thunder. NCL should never have rooms that are so forward on the hull. Tried to change the room the first hour on the ship and was denied.
Alright. Standard fare.
Rented cars at islands on my own.
Overall, the ship is really nicely done. Unfortunately, the first day the toilets stopped working and when I tried to call to report no one answered the call. I had to go the the main desk where the informed me that all the toilets up to floor 9 are not working. This event happened several more times during the cruise and it made relaxing a real challenge.. The people who clean the room took our beach towels one night and refused to replace them which meant we would be charged for the towels. The room staff were never friendly and we found their response to our asking for replacement towels down right nasty. I guess this is what happens when the tip is included in your bill versus paying the tip based on actual service? The beach towels were embarassing. Stained, holes and rips. While on a beach, I compared the nice plush towels that people on Carnival cruise were provided and I felt like I was on the kmart of cruises. They had nice plush towels and we we had these towels that I would have put in the garbage had the been mine. It is ironic since Carnival is supposed to be a lower level of cruise lines than Norwegian. We took a cruise over Christmas week and there were many children on board and we found that the cruise director had an obsession for using "potty" words. Seemed like he was fascinated by bodily functions! It was just not something you would like to hear over loud speakers or on the cruise network channel. Worst of all, he used words like "crap" and "piss" during the supposedly family oriented shows in which Children as young as four were in the audience....very inappropriate! The tender process to Stirrup Cay was a disaster. It took us over two hours to get to the island using the tenders. They sent tenders off half full and used only one door to launch the tender even though several are available and then each passenger had to go file through the ID scan process. We have cruised many times and this was the first time we experienced such a long wait to get to an excursion. We have come to associate Norwegian's freestyle cruising as another was of saying lack of service and politeness by the staff. We will opt to take another cruise line next time.
