Itinerary: Bahamas
My seventh cruise and first "free style" one. My
wife and I got to the pier at around 3:30 p.m. and proceeded to the check-in
area without a problem after depositing our luggage curbside.
Passports, Bahamas immigration cards and credit card were required as we
presented ourselves to the counter. It was a breeze and I didn't even realize
that they our pictures as we checked in until we boarded the ship when the
attendant swiped our cards and revealed our ugly smugs.
Once on board, we automatically went on hoiday mode. I knew that our luggage was
still in limbo so my wife and I decided to go to the nearest bar. Navigating our
way around, we found the Java Cafe right in the lobby or Atrium as they call it.
There was a crowd at this juncture of seasoned cruisers booking restaurant
reservations for certain dates as we overheard them. My wife and I sat back and
ordered drinks while we adjust to the goings-on. Passengers are still boarding
and wandering around trying to get their bearings as we idly observe, and then
our bartender asked us if we had lunch yet. My wife and I looked at each other
and then asked, "where is lunch being served"? We scooted to the elevator and
took it to the 12th floor for a buffet at the Garden Cafe. There was a deli
station there so we grabbed some lox on a bagel w/ cream cheese.
Full and ready, we proceeded to our cabin and found our luggage outside it. We
slid the card and opened the door and voila, saw the room that we were going to
spend 7 nights in. It wasn't so bad; There were 2 twin beds, with 2 tiny night
tables that are big enough to hold your reading glasses and a book; a 13" TV
mounted on a shelf; A closet big enough for 2 people; a desk with enough room to
lay your laptop and wallet; a coffee maker with cups in a hidden shelf; a bureau
w/ 3 drawers enough for 2 and the bathroom, sparkling clean with enough shelf
space for 2 and a sliding glass door shower.
This is far better than the inside cabins that we stayed in in previous cruises,
so I'd give it a 2 thumbs up! Unless you're honeymooning, how much time would
you spend in a cabin?
