I found the ship itself fine. Many people complain about mediocrity not
realizing they are sailing with a middle-of-the-road, medium price cruise line.
The food was excellent. I do agree with many posters who said that when the ship
was jumboized some of the public areas should have been enlarged also. The
"sports bar" buffett, in particular, was ridiculously small.
The big problem was that we were informed on boarding that the ship had engine
problems, and we would not be able to call Tallin Estonia, as a result. To
compensate, each cabin was given a $100 ship credit. At first, this did not seem
unreasonable, but as the cruise progressed, it became apparent that there were
at least 3 opportunities for NCL to adjust the ship's schedule to include Tallin,
eg, returning via the Kiel canal. The ship never took advantage of these options
and just maintained the abbreviated schedule. Our experience is that other
cruise lines make greater efforts to meet their committments. Bottom line is
that NCL's response to its engine problems was unsatisfactory and we will think
long & hard before booking with them again.
