I just return from my 7 day cruise and I am left feeling like I have wasted much
time and money. My trip from the airport to the cruise ship went smoothly. I
used the Van Norwegian recommended and charges $30 total for pickup and return.
My room on the ship was very nice and more than I had expected. I received an
upgrade. After checking in my friend and I went looking around and found a band
playing on the deck "Caribbean Vibes". They were very good and played everyday
4x's a day during our cruise. After exploring the ship we were kind of
disappointed because there was really nothing to look at besides the gift shops,
casino, restaurants, nightclub and lounge. The entertainment on the ship was
wonderful but that is where the fun ended. The land excursions were always
rushed and too short. When we arrived at Cozumel we did not know where to go.
The cruise ship just lets you off at the pier and you try to find out where do
you go and how do you get there. These questions we tried to ask the locals
which can be hard since their English is limited. We ended up taking a taxi
which cost $35.00 each way and included free admittance to the beach. The beach
was nice. Back on the ship there was the usual band on the deck and show in the
stardust. In Rotan we took a tour through the town which was a waste of time
because the only things to see was the poverty of the local people. We also took
a zoo tour which cost $40.00 each. Animals were nice but could have seen that at
home. The ship had a bar-b-que on the deck each night which would have been nice
if they did not have the same menu each night. The band played in wind and rain.
My friend got motion sickness. You felt the ship rocking the entire time we were
on the ship. The drinks were very expensive and not mixed well. One night in the
Night club they were playing disco music. After about 2 hours of hearing this
and seeing no one on the floor I requested that the music might be changed and
the DJ informed me that he had to play it all night since it was Disco night.
What a disappointing night.
This cruise was not what I expected. We spent most of the time tendering back
and forth to Island that we did not get to spend much time on. It was too tiring
and frustrating. The food in the 2 restaurants we ate at had no flavor to it and
except for 1 night we left hungry. I had sailed Norwegian before, but believe me
never will I take another cruise with them. I spent a lot of money and really
other than partying with the band and seeing the island for a minute I could
have stayed home.
