My wife and I had a pleasant cruise on the Dream. We've previously cruised on Holland America, Carnival, Renaissance, NCL, Windjammer, Regal.

Prior to sailing, I read some pretty negative reviews on NCL's Open Seating Dinner service (Their "free style cruising"). However, we were pleasantly surprised by the fast and friendly service in the two main dining rooms. Compared with previous cruises, including trips on NCL, we were somewhat disappointed with the overall quality and number of dinner selections of the food in the two main restaurants (same menus each evening) and the small Sports Deck buffet. We never had a bad meal, it just seemed that the main course options were few and somewhat ordinary. Breakfast buffets and breakfast regular dining were excellent.

The Caribbean casual attire was a wonderful experience. Since most of us do not dress up in tuxes to go out to dinner at home, there is really no need to do so on a ship. There were two optional formal nights (meaning one main dining room requested formal attire, while the other did not - and the two menus were identical).

Our cabin #5248 was mid-ship, queen bed, and was a nice cabin w/ picture window, in good repair and upkeep. Our cabin steward and stewardess did a fine job.

We were pleasantly surprised at the number of women who work as waitresses and busgirls as well as cabin stewardesses. This may have added to the overall friendliness of the crew. The young women appeared to be more outgoing, and the young men appeared to be quite pleased with their presence.

The entertainment were excellent. The ship had both a dance and a vocal group which meant good quality of entertainment. The guest entertainers were varied and very professional: comedians, jugglers w/ comedy, concert violist, and tango duo.

We enjoyed a number of tours, but our favorite was swimming with the sting rays in Grand Cayman. We snorkeld in Roatan and Costa Maya, visited Mayan ruins in Belize, shopped in Cozumel and visited the Robert Frost cottage in Key West. We've visited Key West at least six times, and try to find a new activity each visit.

There was a nice mix of age groups, with most people appearing to be in the 40-65 age group, with other ages being represented, although there were not many young children or teenagers.

Overall, we had a very good cruising experience and believe that most cruisers will enjoy the NCL Dream.
